My family lived in the house next to the railway bridge for 25 years from the mid sixties. Our father The Rev Nick Carr was curate at the parish church. Alongside my mother Joy and my six brothers and sisters no.44 was a happy family home. It was an open house where the good news of Jesus was faithfully shared to all who entered. Happy days!

The Panther appears on the 1901 census and was opposite the 'The Eagle' which I believe was demolished in the mid 1990s. My gt/grandfather was a grocer living at No23 Croydon Road which is opposite 'The Panther'. I would be interested to learn if there is a photo of his shop.
