My family, the Carrs, lived at no 44 Croydon Road. The picture shows the old Post Office in Doods Road. We used to go on bike rides and often visited Milly Brett and her sister who lived in the old shop. She used to sell stationary etc and still had the old wooden bowl shaped till. She gave me all the farthings which were still in the till even though they were out of circulation. She also gave us the old cart which used to be pulled by the family horse. The shop was a real time capsule....over forty years on I can still hear the old bell which rang whenever anyone entered!
