I was a boarder at this school in about 1965 and it was in this chapel at morning mass that I fainted. I was sitting first row on the right. I have very fond memories of this school.

I was a day girl at the convent from 1968. The chapel was very beautiful. Such a shame that the Convent was demolished.

I saw the last of the roof being removed from this Chapel on 22 February. It was the curved piece above the altar. The site is being levelled for housing.

I was a boarder from 1964 to 1968. I vividly remember the dormitory and the daily mass in the chapel. The only way we could be excused from 06.30 mass was to go for a cross country run! Does anyone remember sister Jerome and sister Emmanuel?

I was at the school with my twin sister Jane for about 3 years - about 1963 to 1967. We hated it. The nuns were cruel and their behaviour was at odds with their apparent religious beliefs.

I remember Reverend Mother Bernard. I was a boarder from Colombia. Very little English. One day, at noon, I wanted to go to the Post Office in town, Redhill. Instead, when asked by Sister Jerome, 1966, ¿Where are you going? I responded to the City to post some letters for my family. Little did I Know that City is London. Soooo, Sister Jerome was infuriated. She said: You need to go and talk to Reverend Mother. Off I went. Knock on door. Yes, Enter. Me: Reverend Mother. Yessss... ¿What have you done? So I told her. And here eyes became giant. ¿What? ¿Are you going to London on you lunch break? Noooo! To town. Redhill. To Post Office, to send letters to my family. Ohhhh! She began to laugh so hard. And then Reverend Mother explained to me the difference between City (London) and town (Redhill).

My name was Penny Wilson when I was at the Convent I 1954 ish. I remember Sister Jerome and what a sarcastic person she was. Sister Rita was head mistress then and she would march about you could hear her coming. Not a happy place for me.

The chapel was beautiful. My cubicle was right next to the hall which communicated our cubicles with the choir’s chapel. I suppose in another era, boarders could go down to mass from the cubicles. I loved to go the chapel and just pray, through that door, without being caught by sister Bernard.

Apologies. Reverend Mother was Bernard. Sister Pascal took care and slept on the third floor with all the boarders. She would draw the curtain without any notice. Just to check and see you were busy.
Sister Jerome would do the same. One time I had a nasty cold. And one of the boarders brought me a tray with food. I was very hungry. As I am eating dinner, all of a sudden, I hear footsteps and the curtain is being drawn sharply. Says sister Jerome: you are not ill at all, if you are eating. Tomorrow, down to class!
