I believe that Wonham Manor was owned from 1918 to ???? by Sir John Norton-Griffiths, or 'Empire Jack' as he came to be known. An extraordinary man who is well worth reading about.

According to the 1881 Census my grandmother who was five lived at Wonham Cottage with her parents and three brothers. Her father is recorded as Ag.Lab which Itake to mean Agricultural Labourer.She later worked in service in Bayswater where she met my grandfather who worked at William Whiteleys. They were married at St Michael's Church in September 1900.
