I think I remember this cottage. My great-aunt Violet Lloyd lived at 12 Oxford Road, just opposite, and her back garden looked out over it.

I wonder whether anyone has information about or photos of my great-aunt's previous house, before WWII, called Mead House; it was a tall Victorian-style house with stables and a paddock, at the point where Linkfield Lane turns L and North St continues straight on; my mother, who grew up there, says that it was on an 'island' on that corner, and that it was subsequently knocked down and a Dept of Work & Pensions office built there. That must have gone, according to Google maps.
