When I was a child I knew Doris Lloyd Rance as my friend's mother. She told me this story in the early 1960s, exactly the same story as she has told it here 50 years later. Fascinating to read it here again all these years later.

I feel I've hit a jackpot finding this page. My 13th great-grandfather was Sir. William Forman, Lord Mayor to Henry VIII in 1539. Sir William leased the Manor of Tullesworth (now Tollsworth) from the king in 1544. It's so wonderful that it still exists. I dream of one day visiting Surrey to see this in person!
