In the field immediately north of St. Annes you can see what appears to be a short military trench system. This is more or less where the bowls club car park is now.

I can see the Wallfield Mansion in the foreground. What a beautiful house!! with superb gardens. I lived there for many happy years.In fact I will probably haunt it when I die, like plenty of other people do. !!

My little house in West Street is visible in this photo. It was occupied by a builder and had a large yard at the back with work shops and outbuildings. 1920 is just unbelievable!
